Eliana’s First Visit to the Beach {Silver Beach St. Joseph, MI}

We have some more local beaches near where we live.  But the sand is coarser than that of a beach near a Lake or Ocean.  Eliana and I drove up to Silver Beach in St. Joseph Michigan.  The sand was beautiful, warm and soft.  But the winds were high so swimming was not allowed.  Eliana got to play in the splash pad across the street, play on the playground and we walked out on the pier to get a closer look of the lighthouse.  So, it was not a wasted trip after all.  Even though swimming was not allowed people would go into the water about knee to waist high to keep cool.  It was quite a warm day despite all the wind.  This was Eliana’s first visit to a real beach.  We are going to go back next summer before school starts & do a 2-3 trip instead of a one day trip like this year.  Here is just a snapshot of Eliana on the pier.  Well, really it was an extension past the railed pier not sure what this is called.

Eliana & the Giant Pusteblume {Sweetness}

Eliana and I were walking in Dugger along the railroad track.  We came across this weeded section that had some giant pusteblume {dandelions}.  All Eliana wanted to do was either swing at them or blow them to make them go away.  It took me a few minutes to convince her to let me take a few photos first.  These were no ordinary pusteblume.  They were the same size as Eliana’s hand.  Neither one of us had seen pusteblume this big before.  Eliana kept referring to the giant pusteblume.

Railroad Track {Replaced}

On the way to the coal mine we stopped in Dugger.  They just happened to be replacing the railroad track.  It’s not often when you come across them replacing sections on a railroad track let alone building a new one.  Last year I posted a photo of the new track which is not far from this track.  But with my host issues back at the end of April that is no longer on my blog.  Eliana and I watched them work for awhile.  It was very neat.

Corn {6 Weeks}

It just amazes me just how fast that corn does grow.  This was taken 6 weeks after planting.  I need to go out and take another photo at 9 weeks.  Can’t wait to see how much it’s grown in 3 weeks.

Dandelion {After the Rain}

This was taken in between rain showers.  And all the blooms are gone from this dandelion.  It almost reminds me of a sunflower.  I turned it B&W to add a bit of drama to it.

Goldenrod {Allergy Aggravator}

It’s that time of year where we see Goldernod all over.  It grows wild mostly in the fields that have not been farmed yet.  But for those that have allergies this is not a friendly weedly flower.  Eliana & Caroline picked some of these yesterday while riding bikes at the airport.  Needless to say last night Eliana started sneezing & coughing more then normal.  So, today she got allergy meds and a breathing treatment.  I turned this photo into black in white as all the yellowy look was making me want to sneeze.  By looking at this photo you’d never guess this was actually a weed and not a flower.  And it was not until I was editing this photo that I noticed it has a few rain drops on it.

Pusteblume {Dandelion}

It’s a cloudy day today and of course rain on and off. Decided to take my macro lens and head out into the yard for a few shots. Not sure why but pusteblume {dandelions} make for some pretty photos. Also, my new watermark that was created by Sarah Heller. It’s actually a watermark action which is pretty awesome. Thank you Sarah!
