Old Glory {22 Mile Walk}

I’ve posted photos before of Old Glory.  She is now on her journey a 22 mile walk from Farmersburg to Bear Run just on the other side of Dugger, Indiana.  A walk such as this doesn’t happen allot.  It’s something to see if you get a chance.

Eliana’s First Visit to the Beach {Silver Beach St. Joseph, MI}

We have some more local beaches near where we live.  But the sand is coarser than that of a beach near a Lake or Ocean.  Eliana and I drove up to Silver Beach in St. Joseph Michigan.  The sand was beautiful, warm and soft.  But the winds were high so swimming was not allowed.  Eliana got to play in the splash pad across the street, play on the playground and we walked out on the pier to get a closer look of the lighthouse.  So, it was not a wasted trip after all.  Even though swimming was not allowed people would go into the water about knee to waist high to keep cool.  It was quite a warm day despite all the wind.  This was Eliana’s first visit to a real beach.  We are going to go back next summer before school starts & do a 2-3 trip instead of a one day trip like this year.  Here is just a snapshot of Eliana on the pier.  Well, really it was an extension past the railed pier not sure what this is called.

Back to School {Mini Sessions}

Heaven & Jasmine {Sisters}

Heaven and Jasmine these two sisters were a joy.  Heaven is 4 and Jasmine is 6.  And you would never know that this was their was first photo session ever.  They sure made me laugh.  I’m glad I was able to provide some great first photos for the new family.  Heaven & Jasmine are in the process of being adopted by a great woman.  Danielle I’m sure you’ll love these as much as I do.

Corn {6 Weeks}

It just amazes me just how fast that corn does grow.  This was taken 6 weeks after planting.  I need to go out and take another photo at 9 weeks.  Can’t wait to see how much it’s grown in 3 weeks.

Dandelion {After the Rain}

This was taken in between rain showers.  And all the blooms are gone from this dandelion.  It almost reminds me of a sunflower.  I turned it B&W to add a bit of drama to it.

Goldenrod {Allergy Aggravator}

It’s that time of year where we see Goldernod all over.  It grows wild mostly in the fields that have not been farmed yet.  But for those that have allergies this is not a friendly weedly flower.  Eliana & Caroline picked some of these yesterday while riding bikes at the airport.  Needless to say last night Eliana started sneezing & coughing more then normal.  So, today she got allergy meds and a breathing treatment.  I turned this photo into black in white as all the yellowy look was making me want to sneeze.  By looking at this photo you’d never guess this was actually a weed and not a flower.  And it was not until I was editing this photo that I noticed it has a few rain drops on it.

Pusteblume {Dandelion}

It’s a cloudy day today and of course rain on and off. Decided to take my macro lens and head out into the yard for a few shots. Not sure why but pusteblume {dandelions} make for some pretty photos. Also, my new watermark that was created by Sarah Heller. It’s actually a watermark action which is pretty awesome. Thank you Sarah!

Clouds {Thoughts}

Just a bit ago I was looking at the clouds.  Now that the weather is getting warmer and nicer I spend more time looking at the clouds.  Have you ever looked at the clouds and tried to make shapes out of them.  Sometimes you will see a dog or a circle or something else.  Not sure this one is really anything but it did look interesting.  I tried turning it to black & white and it didn’t quite look right.  So, I left it in color.

Sweet Corn {New Growth}

About 3 weeks ago one of the farmers whose land surrounds ours already planted his corn. The day after he planted started then on/off of rain spree we’ve had for three weeks. Three sides of our property butts up to farm field. The fourth side is a state road but directly across is another field. Last year there were 3 sides of beans and across the road was corn. These year we will be hidden in the corn LOL. I had walked out a bit ago to look at the sun which is slowly going down. And I noticed that the corn is already growing but of course with all the rain we’ve had its no surprise. I took a few shots and this was my favorite and the rest are all trash.

Red Velvet Cupcakes {Gluten Free}

Easy Gluten Free Red Velvet Cupcakes (makes about 15)

1 box Betty Crocker Gluten Free Yellow Cake Mix
1 large package chocolate-flavored instant pudding/pie filling (Jello brand is gluten free)
1 stick of butter, softened
8 oz. sour cream
3 eggs
2/3 milk or plain soy milk
2 tbsp. red food coloring (McCormick is gluten-free)

Preheat oven to 350° F. Combine all ingredients in a large mixing bowl at medium speed until smooth, about 2 minutes (watch out for the food coloring—it stains anything it touches!). Once combined, spoon the mixture into muffin pans lined with cupcake liners. Bake for 16 – 20 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean when you stick it in the center.

Let the cupcakes cool in the pans for five minutes, then carefully remove them and place them on cooling racks.

Cream Cheese Frosting
8 oz. cold cream cheese (Philadelphia is gluten-free)
5 Tbsp. softened butter
2 tsp. vanilla (McCormick is gluten-free)
3 C. powdered sugar

Beat the cream cheese, butter, and vanilla until combined (but do not whip). Gradually add powdered sugar with the mixer on slow until the desired consistency and sweetness is achieved. Remember that because of the cream cheese frosting, these cupcakes should be kept in the refrigerator if they aren’t eaten within 12-24 hours. Enjoy!
